A brilliantly fun week in my life having the Lions on tour in the town you live in too!

Dan Carter is such a player. Arguably the greatest 10 to have ever played the game, he had incredible versatility from his kicking game to attacking playmaker and rock in defence. To play for the length of time that he did with the All Blacks is simply incredible. Rich Will Speak replied: Spot on. Look out for more on this The term legend in sport is generally abused. If there was anyone that came near owning this status, Dan Carter certainly did. What a player! Reply posted by joel, at 20 Feb joel.
Just a really nice likeable bloke, no swagger or ego. Removed comment. More replies 4 down. One of the few players that earned and deserved the respect of both players and fans universally. More importantly, he appears to have retained that balance of charisma, civility and humility.
Long may the sport continue to create role models and pure talent like this. Pity he wasn't in the team colours I support, but you can't have it all!! SammyValenteno replied: Christchurch, NZ Where was Dan Carter to be found? Out in the streets shifting rubble and helping the rescue effort. What a guy. A true legend, on and off the rugby pitch. Comment posted by having my say, at 20 Feb having my say. Was really looking forward to a Lions series victory back in And then this guy strutted his stuff and all hope dashed.
He was phenomenal during that series and has been on several occasions since. One of the all time greats, no doubt. Comment posted by Sam, at 20 Feb Sam. There's more to the wily captain than shunt and grunt.
Bryan Habana is fast, so fast he's raced a cheetah and an A airbus. He's run The Springboks wing can finish tries and is the joint World Cup tryscoring record-holder with Jonah Lomu with There's something reassuring about the fact a 1. He does it with his audacious side-step and under-rated offload. The great Jonah Lomu even described him as "electric" for his ability to beat defenders. With six tries in five tests, he's shown lightning strikes more than twice. Apparently Wales were shot without Leigh Halfpenny, widely acknowledged as the world's best goalkicker.
Well, Dan Biggar ain't too bad and might be the guy most teams would want if their team depended on a goalkicker to win the World Cup. He's kicked 15 from 16 attempts Herald on Sunday. Richie McCaw has one of the best brains in world rugby. Dan Carter's eyes are superb at reading the game. Schalk Burger never gives up. He bounced back from that disappointment the following year with a series of strong performances and he finally made the switch to fly-half at the end of the year, displacing Carlos Spencer.
He notched 11 points in the 1st Test victory but it was his performance in the series-clinching 2nd Test triumph in Wellington that catapulted him to a new level of excellence. He scored two tries, five penalties, and four conversions to end the match with 33 points, smashing the previous All Blacks record of 18 points in a Lions Test.
His total of 44 points in two Tests against the Lions left his just two points shy of the most points scored by any player in all Tests against the Lions and injury ruled him out of the final Test.
But Carter had to share in the blame for the All Blacks' worst ever World Cup showing after they crashed out in the quarter-finals at the hands of hosts France. The All Blacks bounced back to form with Carter at the heart of another Tri-Nations success in that was followed by another Grand Slam end of year tour.
Carter's provincial career is equally impressive during a dominant era for the Crusaders. The accomplished Carter reached the final of the competition with the Crusaders in , , , and Although they lost the and finals, by he had moved to fly-half and inspired a prolific run for the Canterbury-based franchise that included three titles in four years.
In the season Carter scored the most individual points for a player in one season with In April it was reported that Carter was considering a lucrative move to the northern hemisphere, a move that would add to a worrying player drain from New Zealand. Fearing the loss of another of their stars, Carter was granted a sabbatical by the New Zealand Rugby Union as part of a new contract. But his sojourn was brought to a premature end after just five games due to the recurrence of an Achilles tendon injury in February.
He was forced to watch from the sidelines as his side went on to claim the Top 14 crown.
