On live, Rapture grants mana equal to a percentage of the priests Maximum mana, meaning its regenerative effect scales with Intellect, and returns far more mana than the PW:S costs. Because of their regeneration coming from max-mana regen abilites like Rapture Inter Alia , Discpline Priests with good gear are relatively free to use PW:S liberally.

Although PW:S costs a fairly high amount of mana, Rapture in addition to effects like Repleneshiment and Shadow Fiend are so strong that Disc Priests can spam PW:S for a limited period of time and essentially obviate certain boss mechanics. In MoP, PW:S will be much more costly and Disc Priests will not have nearly the same regeneration from Rapture because it will no longer scale with intellect and will instead scale with spirit.

Instead of returning more mana than it costs as it does now , Rapture will merely allow you to cast one very efficient PW:S every 12 seconds and any other PW:S cast within that second cooldown is very inefficient. Essentially, if you were to use PW:S only once every 12 seconds and it procs Rapture every 12 seconds then the Heals-per-mana HPM and Heals-per-second of PW:S would both equivalent to casting Penance on cooldown, which is strong in both cases.

If you wish to preshield before a predictable mechanic, you would be better off using Spirit Shell now a one minute cooldown and spamming either Greater Heal or Prayer of Healing to build up a pre-shield without worrying about the weakened souls debuff. You can test it on a target dummy two ways:. Cast Boon and only spam your Ascended Blast button for the entire duration. If you do not manage 5 casts you need more haste for sure.

The second way you can test it, is by doing the rotation you would be doing in raid. You could also chuck in some Mind Blasts in your rotation too for the extra healing absorb if your mana is fine. As your mana allows it, you can apply some atonements between your ramps.
